Newport Dentist Reports Increase In Adult Braces
Newport dentist, Dr Ashok Jakhu, said that there has been an increase in the number of adults seeking orthodontic treatment in the last few years.
Dr Jakhu, from Wycherley’s Dental Practice, said that men and women are coming to see him to ask about cosmetic braces, such as Invisalign. Dr Jakhu said that most of the patients he sees had been offered orthodontic treatment in their teens but they decide against it because they did not want to wear the traditional metal train-track braces.
Nowadays, there are so many options for patients and adult treatment has become much more popular. Invisalign, a clear aligner system, which offers flexibility as well as aesthetics as the aligners are removable, is particularly popular.
Dr Jakhu admitted that he was one of those who spurned treatment earlier in life due to the look and feel of fixed braces; he has since had Invisalign braces fitted and he said that many patients see his braces and decided to go ahead with treatment because the aligners are so discreet.
Dr Jakhu said that he has been inundated with questions about new brace systems and treatments and he has organised an open evening at the surgery on October 29th.
