Everyone is smiling at Bridge Dental Care in Newbridge after it was revealed that the practice has been nominated for an award at the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru 2015.

The awards, which are designed to honour firms and businesses that provide excellent apprenticeship opportunities, will take place on October 29th at Celtic Manor. The practice has been short-listed in the Small Employer of the Year category.

Currently, the practice has two apprentice nurses on-site who are working to gain a diploma in dental nursing.

Treatment coordinator at the practice, Sue Pipe, said that training and development are very important at Bridge Dental Care and everyone recognises the importance of giving apprentices the amazing opportunity to learn on the job and gain a real insight into the working day as a dental nurse. The practice works with Aspiration Training to provide apprentice nurses with informative and interactive training sessions, which enable them to develop their practical, communication and social skills.

Julie James, deputy minister for skills and technology, added that apprenticeship schemes are incredibly valuable, especially for young people and said that the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru is the perfect event to thank businesses and apprentices for their hard work and celebrate all their achievements.
