New Ronald McDonald mobile dental unit unveiled

A new Ronald McDonald mobile dental unit has been unveiled in Central Ohio.

The mobile unit has been funded by Shelly Lavin, a Trustee of Ronald McDonald House and will operate in conjunction with the Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s primary care centres. The new unit will be the 43rd Ronald McDonald van to hit the roads.

The new unit will provide much needed dental care to people in greater Columbus. The money for the unit was donated by Lavin following the death if his wife, Sylvia; the van will now be launched in her memory.

The new dental van is 40 foot long and is kitted out with state of the art equipment and technology; it has two separate treatment rooms, a reception area and a laboratory on site and there is plenty of space for people to move freely around the van and wait in comfort.

The unit will be staffed by professionals from the Nationwide Children’s Hospital and will provide much more than a routine dental service; the unit will also deliver primary care for children, including immunisation programmes, general and preventative dental treatments, vision and hearing tests and general health checks.
