New NHS dental practice to open in Stoke

A new NHS dental practice is set to open in Stoke-on-Trent next month.

The new practice, which will be managed by Primecare Oral Health Services Limited, will open on April 1st; the practice will create 3,000 new NHS dental places. The surgery will open in the past New Phoenix pub on Liverpool Road.

The practice will be a welcome addition to NHS dental services in the area; a large proportion of people in Stoke-on-Trent cannot afford private dental treatment and some people have had difficulty registering with an NHS practice. The cost of NHS dentistry is much lower than private dentistry; a private dentist charges around £54 for a check-up, in comparison to £16.50 on the NHS.

Sarah Campbell, Operational Director of Primecare Oral Health Services Limited, said that the team are really looking forward to opening the new surgery and working alongside NHS Stoke-on-Trent. The practice will open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.

The new surgery will provide valuable new NHS dental places; according to Jeanette Sims, planning manager at NHS Stoke-on-Trent, the area has very high rates of tooth decay and oral health problems and a new surgery will help to improve access to dental care for local people.

The surgery is now taking on new patients and anyone who is interested in registering with the practice is advised to call the surgery directly.
