A new NHS dental practice has been officially opened in Chester-le-Street.

Alpha Dental Practice in Gibside has been accepting new patients since it opened its doors in April. However, it has now been officially opened. Dr David Geddes, head of primary care commissioning for NHS England, cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Dr Geddes said that access to good dental services is vital for good oral and general health. Dr Geddes said that he was delighted to be opening Alpha Dental Practice on behalf of NHS England and he believes it will be a valuable addition to the local area. He added that it is important for the NHS to make it easy as possible for people to access dental care in all areas of the country.

Alpha Dental Group is an independent dental chain, which has practices in North Yorkshire and Teesside. The Chester-le-Street practice is the first to open in County Durham.

Neeraj Diddee, a dentist and partner at the Alpha Dental Group, encouraged new patients to contact the practice, as there are still NHS places available.

New patients are encouraged to ring the practice on 0191 388 7092 or visiting alphadental.co.uk.
