A state of the art health and dental centre will open at Battersea Power Station, it has been revealed.

Funding for the state of the art facility, which is expected to cost in the region of £13 million, has been secured from Development Infrastructure Funds and Community Infrastructure Levy, which will be paid to Lambeth and Wandsworth councils by developers. The new centre will house up to 20 treatment rooms, with a variety of services available, including dental procedures.

Ravi Govindia, from Wandsworth Council, claimed that the news demonstrated the “wider benefits” of regenerating the power station, while MP Jane Ellison described the development as a “really important milestone.”

The centre will open in the southern section of the power station, and it is hoped that construction work will begin next year.

CEO of the Battersea Power Station Development Company, Rob Tincknell, said that the new facility will be an “essential part of the social infrastructure” of the redevelopment project. Work is already underway to extend underground services in the area, and new housing is expected to become available in the near future.
