New Hampshire Dentists Working to Improve Access to Dental Care

Sample News Big

Dentists in New Hampshire have been working tirelessly to try and improve access to dental care.

According to information released by the Pew Center on the States in 2011, New Hampshire exceeded five of the eight benchmarks for oral health and improvements have been made in the Medicaid system. Recently, the state enabled physicians to be reimbursed for providing preventative dental care for young children, a move which will hopefully help to reduce rates of decay and improve standards of oral health among children in the state.

The majority of ‘high-risk’ schools now have oral health programmes in place, which provide sealants to protect children’s teeth against decay.

According to authorities and dental experts, there is still a long way to go, but progress is being made at a rapid rate. However, only half of towns in the state have access to fluoridated water, compared to the national average of 75 percent and dentists believe that a small investment in fluoridation would pay huge dividends.
