A new dental surgery has opened in a former nightclub in Burnley.

Chief Dental Officer, Dr Barry Cockcroft officially opened the Quest Dental Care practice yesterday. Dr Cockcroft welcomed guests to the new practice on Red Lion Street and conducted tours around the new training practice.

The new branch of Quest Dental Care is the result of a collaborative effort by NHS East Lancashire and Quest Dental Care. The surgery was opened as part of NHS East Lancashire’s ongoing investment in dental services in the area; officials are trying to ensure that everyone in the region has access to dental services without having to travel long distances.

The new surgery has been developed in a Grade 2 listed building, which was originally used as a Baptists church before being converted into a nightclub. The new practice boasts twelve treatment suites, which are kitted out with the latest technology and equipment.

The new Quest Dental Care practice will also provide training facilities for student dental nurses, dentists and dental therapists from the University of Central Lancashire, Liverpool University and the East Lancashire Dental Education Centre in nearby Accrington.

The practice has been open since October and initial feedback from patients has been very positive. Members of staff at the practice say they have been overwhelmed by the response from the public and encouraged by the number of patients registering an interest in joining the patient list at the practice.
