New dental scheme in Northumberland

Sample News Big

Kids from low income families in Northumberland, Ontario are set to benefit from a new multi-million dollar dental scheme.

The new Healthy Smiles Ontario programme will target the region’s poorest children and provide them with free dental care. Children in Northumberland will be able to benefit from free dental care immediately. Children from low income families without dental insurance will be eligible for the scheme, which will take effect immediately in clinics and units all over Ontario.

The programme is set to benefit a large number of children; however, the scheme is only targeting the region’s poorest children and will not provide dental care for children from wealthier families. Health Minister Deb Matthews said that it was impossible to expand services any further because of the huge multi-billion dollar deficit facing the government.

Eligible children in Northumberland will now be able to receive free general dental treatments, as well as preventative treatments, which will help to protect their teeth and make them more resistant to dental health problems, including tooth decay, in the future.
