New dental practice could open in Norfolk village

A new dental practice could open in the Norfolk village of Hopton if planning officers give the green light.

An application to change the use of premises previously used as a hair salon on Warren Road has been submitted to the council. If the proposal is approved, Hopton residents will have a new practice on their doorstep.

The planning application outlines proposals to create a new surgery in premises formerly used as a salon, a reception office for a caravan park and a coffee shop. The applicant, Miss C Godbolt, is hoping to get the go ahead to change the license of the property and open a dental practice, which will help to ease pressure on local services.

The application suggests that the practice will offer flexible opening hours. Initially, appointments will be available between 9am and 6pm, but the prospective owner is hoping to extend clinics to 8pm to increase capacity in the future.

The plans propose internal structural changes, which would enable the owner to create a dental treatment suite, a reception and waiting area, a bathroom, a washroom and a sterilisation room. The applicant suggested that there is already sufficient parking around the premises and added that traffic would not increase if the practice were to get the green light.

Norfolk is one of the worst-affected areas in the country in terms of dental access issues. A new dental surgery in Hopton could help to ease pressure on local services and reduce waiting times for patients living in the area.
The application will now be considered by planning officers at Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
