New dental mouthpiece created to help sleep apnoea sufferers

Sample News Big

A new dental mouthpiece has been developed to help patients with sleep apnoea.

The Full Breath Solution can be used to treat people with mild or moderate sleep apnoea and is also beneficial for those who snore; the mouthpiece was invented by Dr Bryan Keropian. Dr Keropian said the mouthpiece would provide an alternative to the continuous positive airway pressure machine, which some patients find uncomfortable and invasive.

The Full Breath Solution works by preventing the tongue from moving forwards and backwards, which prevents the airway becoming blocked. The mouthpiece works in a different way to the continuous positive airway pressure machine and is custom designed to fit each patient. Unlike the CPAP machine, patients do not have to wear a mask at night; instead the mouthpiece is fitted with a ‘tail’, which is used to limit the movement of the tongue.
