Dental chain, mydentist, has submitted plans to open a new practice in Durham.

The company, which runs dental practices all over the country, is hoping to convert premises formerly used as a gym and Pilates space into a brand new surgery. Mydentist applied for change of use planning permission for the premises, located on Hawthorn Terrace, in September.

The proposals include a large surgery space, which is flanked by a spacious lobby and staff rooms. The facility will boast state of the art scanning equipment.

If the plans are given the green light by Durham City Council, mydentist is planning to recruit up to 12 new members of staff, with part-time and full-time positions available. The proposed opening hours have been outlined as 8am until 8pm on weekdays and 9am until 5pm on Saturdays.

A final decision is expected by the end of November. Public consultation on the case was open until October 14th.
