Multi-Million Pound Health And Dental Centre Opens In Swansea

A new state of the art health centre, which houses a range of services, including a dental clinic, has opened in Swansea.

The Beacon, which cost £7.25 million, is Swansea’s largest primary care centre and it houses 2 GP practices, a dental surgery, community health services, a pharmacy and the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board.

Locality director for Swansea at the board, Jan Worthy, said that demand for services, especially dental care and GP services, has increased in recent years, as the population of East Swansea has increased considerably. The new centre provides access to a range of services, including GP practices, Dr Kasto and Partners, from SA1 Medical Centre and Dr Patel and Partners from Harbourside Health Centre and Eastside Dental Practice.

The Beacon Centre is much larger than existing facilities, giving doctors and dentists more space and enabling patients to make use of comfortable waiting areas.

In addition to providing state of the art facilities for patients and health professionals, the health centre will also providing training facilities for medical students from Swansea University’s School of Medicine; there are dedicate study rooms allocated in the centre and the students will be undertaking clinical placements.
