A mother of four showed off a brand new look after undergoing a series of private medical and dental appointments as part of a makeover competition.

Phyllis Samuel, 52, from Stockton received a host of nominations for the makeover prize put together by 18 businesses in the North East. The Dream Image North East Project was established over a 3 year period with local businesses wanting to show that they were equal to those in London.

Phyllis unveiled her new look at Rockliffe Hall Hotel. When she came down the stairs dressed up to the nines and with a completely new look she received gasps from her family and friends who had gathered to see the results of her makeover.

The judging panel had chosen Phyllis after hearing the adversity she had overcome, surviving two bouts of cancer and being brought up in care, yet managing to bring up three children on her own and care for her mother and brother.

Phyllis said she was unable to put into words how happy she is and how grateful she is to everyone involved in the makeover.

Linda Heads, coordinator of Dream Image and the wife of cosmetic dentist, Mike Heads, said Phyllis had shown “tremendous commitment” to the makeover which involved a number of medical and dental appointments.
