Montrose Dental Team Appeals for Himalayas Charity Mission

Sample News Big

A dentist and dental nurse from Montrose are appealing to the public for donations towards a charity trip to the Himalayas.

Dentist Sze San Ngu and dental nurse Kerry Rooke will be visiting isolated communities near Ladakh in Northern India to provide people with dental care and supplies. The duo, who are based at Campbell and Gibb Dental Practice, have been busy fundraising to pay for the trip and they are now seeking donations to help them buy dental supplies. The money raised will go towards providing some of the world’s poorest people with toothbrushes and toothpaste, items manyn of us take for granted.

For much of the year, the villages are cut off as a result of heavy snowfall and this means it’s virtually impossible for people to see a dentist.

The team will be visiting the Himalayas for just over 2 weeks in April and they are hoping to treat as many people as possible during their stay.

Sze San is originally from Malaysia and she has wanted to volunteer abroad since finishing her studies in dentistry at Dundee University. During her student years, she visited Thailand and Vietnam and she is now looking forward to the challenges her next trip presents.

Kerry and Sze San are both hoping to take a case full of supplies to give out to local people when they arrive. Anyone who wishes to make a donation to the appeal is encouraged to drop by the practice in the coming weeks.
