Mission of Mercy Organisers Prepare for Huge Dental Event in Missouri

Representatives from the Mission of Mercy are joining forces with hundreds of volunteers to host a huge free dental event in Missouri this weekend.

On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August, the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena will become a temporary dental clinic, with doors opening at 5am.

During the two day event, hundreds of local dentists, dental nurses and hygienists will team up with general volunteers to enable as many people as possible to receive dental treatment free of charge.

The clinics, which take place all over the US, are designed to provide treatment for patients without insurance and those on low incomes. In most cases, they provide the only option for people who  couldn’t otherwise afford dental care.

Scott Roberson is just one of more than a hundred dentists who will be helping out at the event. He said the demand for affordable dental treatment is growing and the Mission of Mercy serves a really important purpose. Patients will be able to access a range of treatments on the day, including extraction, fillings, denture repairs and root canal therapy. Crowns will not be available because treatment takes too long.

Appointments will be available on a strict first come, first served basis and anyone interested in attending is advised to arrive early. In most cases, these kinds of events attract crowds hours before registration opens, with many braving the elements and camping out the night before.
