Milton Keynes Primary School Children Get Visit From the Dentist

Year 6 children from High Ash Church of England Primary School received a visit from the dentist regularly. Award-winning dentist Dr Debbie Ganguli paid the children a visit to teach them about healthy eating and oral hygiene.

One of Dr Ganguli’s main aims was to educate children about the impact of sugar on their teeth, especially sugars found in sweets and fizzy drinks. During her time with the class, Dr Ganguli, who won a prize in 2014 for her educational initiative for children, used a series of activities and fun and interactive quizzes and role-play scenarios to teach children about how their diet affects their oral health and how they can make healthier food choices.

Once the children had taken the information on board, they then shared their new found knowledge with other pupils to spread the message about healthy eating.

Lindsay Harper, a teacher at the school, said that the session was a great success and the children learned a lot about diet and how it affects their bodies, especially their teeth. After learning about sugar and its effects on the teeth, the children were proud to present to the rest of the school and this provided other pupils with a valuable lesson.
