Milton Keynes Dental Team Celebrates National Award
A dental team from Milton Keynes is celebrating after being crowned the winners of a national award.
Cherry Trees Dental was named the winner in the UK’s ‘Best Children’s Dental Health Initiative’ category at the Private Dentistry Awards. The award was given in recognition of the success of a programme implemented in local schools in Milton Keynes. As well as receiving praise from the judges, the scheme has also received extremely positive feedback from participating schools.
Owner, Dr Debbie Ganguli, said that everyone was thrilled with the award and also with the feedback from the school’s programme. Last year, the practice was highly commended in the same category, so to go a step further is a real achievement.
The scheme is a free programme, and aims to educate children in a fun and informative way, encouraging them to think about oral hygiene and oral health issues. It is linked into the curriculum and intertwined with subjects such as science and history. Nearly 30 schools in the area are involved in the initiative and groups including the Brownies and Beavers are also benefiting from the service.
One of the head teachers said that the programme had “transformed” children’s confidence when they visit the dentist and helped them to understand that going to see a dentist is nothing to be worried about.
The team was presented with the award at a prestigious ceremony in London.
