Milton Keynes Children Invited to Dental Drop-in Sessions

Sample News Big

Children in Milton Keynes have been invited to attend free dental drop-in sessions at Sure Start Children’s Centres in the area.

The Oral Health Promotion Team has encouraged parents to bring their children for a free check-up. Events will be held at Sure Start Centres in Beanhill, Bletchley, Fishermead and Fullers Slade over the course of the next 2 months.

The sessions are designed for children who are not currently registered with an NHS dentist and children will be given a check-up and preventative dental treatments, including fluoride varnish. The Oral Health Promotion Team and dental staff will also be on hand to talk to parents and children about oral hygiene, teeth cleaning and healthy eating and the children will receive a toothbrush pack.

Mel Foxall, from the Oral Health Promotion Team, said that the drop-in sessions are a great opportunity for children to get the treatment they need and parents to talk to an NHS dentist about oral health matters. Dentists will also be able to advise parents about registering with a dental practice in the area.

Decay is one of the most common preventable childhood illnesses, but brushing the teeth twice a day, limiting the amount of sugary food you eat and visiting the dentist for regular check-ups will help to keep oral health diseases at bay.
