A GP from Merseyside has teamed up with a local dentist to open a brand new dental practice.

The new dental practice will provide NHS dental care for around 3,500 people in the Knowsley area of Liverpool; the practice will be launched as part of a government programme to increase access to dental services.

The new Origins Dental Care practice, which has opened at Whiston Primary Care Resource Centre, has been funded by the Department of Health’s Dental Access Programme; the practice is now accepting new patients. The practice is being managed by Dr Ravi Gollapudi in conjunction with Merseyside GP Dr Sudhaker Khandavalli; Dr Khandavalli has been working in the area for 28 years and has played an important role in creating a dental practice that caters for the needs of local residents.

Dr Gollapudi said that he was delighted to be opening a new practice in Knowsley, after applying for funding from the access programme; he also said that he is looking forward to working alongside Dr Khandavalli and making the most of his local knowledge to bring the people of Knowsley the best possible dental service.

Origins Dental Care will provide a comprehensive range of general NHS dental treatments, as well as private dentistry. The team will focus on preventative dentistry, in order to try and improve standards of oral health in the area. Knowsley currently has very poor standards of oral health compared to the national average and it is hoped that the new practice will help to raise these standards.
