Malaysian dentists have joined forces with public health experts to raise awareness of the importance of good oral health during National Dental Health Month, which has been celebrated throughout February.

Most people are aware that brushing their teeth helps to keep oral diseases at bay, but many may be unaware that a good oral hygiene routine could also reduce the risk of serious, life-threatening diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and strokes.

Numerous studies carried out by researchers across the world have linked poor oral health to an increased risk of medical problems, as well as issues related to low self-esteem and confidence.

Throughout the month of February, dentists have been celebrating National Dental Health Month to encourage people to take good care of their teeth and gums and to visit their dentist for regular check-ups to boost their oral health, as well as their general health.

Taking inspiration from February’s most famous occasion, St Valentine’s Day, Healthway Dental, has been offering free dental check-ups as part of a promotion called ‘Love your Teeth’. Dental check-ups are available between 9am and 12pm until the 29th February.
