Maidenhead Dentist Continuing Mouth Cancer Awareness Efforts

Sample News Big

A dentist from Maidenhead is getting involved in Mouth Cancer Awareness Month after completing a 10 kilometre walk for the Mouth Cancer Foundation earlier this year.

Monika Khanna, principal dentist at the Langley Road Dental Practice, is continuing her efforts to raise awareness of mouth cancer by offering free screening sessions this month.

Monika took part in the Mouth Cancer Foundation charity walk at Hyde Park  in September and she is looking forward to welcoming patients to the practice this November as part of the British Dental Health Foundation’s Mouth Cancer Awareness Month campaign.

Monika said that regular dental checks allow dentists to spot the early signs of mouth cancer and this is vital for helping people to fight oral cancer; early detection improves survival rates by up to 90 per cent. The dental team will be providing free oral cancer screening every Wednesday afternoon throughout November and appointments are available to registered patients, as well as people who are not registered with the practice.

Experts predict that 30,000 people could die from mouth cancer over the next decade and dentists and health organisations are eager to educate people about the causes and symptoms of mouth cancer to bring this number down and ensure that cases are diagnosed as early as possible when there is a much higher chance of successful treatment.
