Wolverhampton has topped the list of the cheapest places for veneer treatment in the UK.

Recent research carried out by whatclinic.com revealed that Oxford was the most expensive city to undergo veneer treatment, while the average fee for a dental check-up was highest in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The survey revealed huge differences between different areas of the country, with the average cost of a dental check-up reaching £67 in Stratford, compared to just £15 in Bradford. The national average was £36.

The website, which is one of the leading health search engines on the Internet, examined costs charged by over 11,000 dentists and clinics across the UK and found that Stratford was the most expensive for routine dental checks, with nearby Newbury in second place. Guildford, Tonbridge Wells and Milton Keynes also came high up the list.

Prices for tooth whitening treatment were highest in London, with an average cost of £600, and lowest in Portsmouth, with fees of just £163.

Chief executive of whatclinic.com, Caelen King, said that the research shows that there can be significant variation in cost even for the simplest treatments, such as routine dental check-ups. With such a difference in fees, over a period of time a family could save a huge amount of money by shopping around and researching prices beforehand.

Mr King also added that it is worth comparing prices for practices in the same town or city, as the research revealed significant differences between clinics in the same area.
