A dental nurse from Lochaber is celebrating after winning a prestigious award at the Scottish Dental Awards.

Justine MacDonald, who is 25 years old and works at M&S Dental Care,Fort William, was awarded ‘Dental Nurse of the Year’ at the awards ceremony at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

Justine joined the M&S Dental Care team in 2007 as a trainee and quickly became an integral part of the staff; she received an engraved glass trophy at the ceremony and said that she was delighted and honoured to be named the best dental nurse.

Justine completed the NEBDN qualification in 2010 and she is planning to start a course in sedation nursing.

In 2012 Justine left the practice after her partner secured a job on the Isle of Islay, but there was no work for her on the island and she returned to Fort William after just two months.

Practice partner, Gregor Muir, said that Justine was a very deserved winner of the accolade because she is always willing to go the extra mile for patients and colleagues and she brings a lot to the team. As well as her nursing position, Justine is also in control of ordering and stock control and she is also the practice representative for the Perfection in Practice quorum, which holds monthly meetings.
