Local MP Calls for Camelford Dental Practice to Re-Open

MP for North Cornwall, Dan Rogerson, has urged the NHS to re-open a dental practice in Camelford.

Mr Rogerson believes that people have struggled to access NHS dental care since Highfield Dental Practice closed in 2012. At the time, Mr Rogerson teamed up with residents and local councillors to try and save the practice, but the effort was unsuccessful. Two years later, Mr Rogerson is urging the NHS to think about re-opening the surgery.

Mr Rogerson’s comments come at a time when the NHS is asking local people about dental services in the area. Residents have received a survey, which aims to find out where patients go to see a dentist and what they think about the service they receive.

North Cornwall’s MP has welcomed the survey, which the NHS claims will be used to shape local services in the future, but believes that the obvious solution would be to re-open the surgery in Camelford. Since the closure in 2012, most people have been travelling to Wadebridge or Bude to see a dentist. Mr Rogerson has urged local people to take part in the survey so that they have a say in the future of dental services in their local area. It only takes a few minutes and the findings could make a massive difference to the provision of NHS dental care in Camelford.

The survey, which is anonymous, must be completed by the 30th January.
