A dental team from Leighton Buzzard will be out and about, talking to people about oral health issues as part of National Smile Month.

The dentists and nurses from Cherry Trees Dental will be visiting the town’s market on May 20th and 27th to raise awareness of National Smile Month. The team will be giving out goody bags and taking time to talk to passers-by about oral hygiene, smoking, healthy eating and the importance of dental check-ups.

National Smile Month is an annual campaign, which is run by the British Dental Health Foundation. It aims to encourage people to take good care of their teeth and gums in order to reduce the risk of oral diseases, including decay and gum disease and subsequent health issues. This year’s campaign will run from the 19th May until the 19th June.

Dr Debbie Ganguli, from the practice, said that everyone looks forward to National Smile Month and it offers a great opportunity to meet new people, get people talking about oral health and increases awareness of the importance of good oral health. Dr Ganguli said that the team will be stationed in the market and anyone is welcome to come in and have a quick chat, ask questions and collect a goody bag.

Dr Nigel Carter has an OBE, and is chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, and he said that he is delighted that so many dental practices, including Cherry Trees Dental, are making the effort to celebrate National Smile Month.
