A dental nurse from Kirkintilloch has plenty to smile about after scooping a prestigious national award.
Evie Calderhead, from Visage Cosmetic Dental Clinic, was crowned Dental Professional of the Year at the Scottish Dental Awards 2019.
Evie, 39, is lead nurse at the practice, and she was nominated for the prize by her colleague, dentist, Tariq Bashir. One of the many reasons Evie was nominated is her commitment to making patients feel comfortable and relaxed. Recently, Evie has introduced the holistic practice of Reiki to the clinic. This ancient technique is designed to promote relaxation and calm, and many patients have found it hugely effective in reducing anxiety.
Speaking about the award, Evie said that she was “amazed” and thanked Tariq for putting her name forward. Evie has always wanted to work with people, and her job as a dental nurse enables her to make a positive difference on a daily basis. Evie understands the importance of feeling relaxed and at ease, and she has really enjoyed getting to know patients and using techniques like Reiki to soothe patients and lower anxiety levels. The team works really hard to create a positive, calming environment, and Evie is honoured to be a part of a great group of dental professionals.
Dentist, Tariq Bashir, said that nobody deserves the award more than Evie, as she is always willing to go the extra mile to make patients feel comfortable and confident.
