Kingsbridge Dental Team Braves the Mud for Charity

Sample News Big

A dental team from Kingsbridge has taken part in a muddy challenge for charity. The team from Absolute Dental braved the Pretty Muddy 5K to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The course contained a number of obstacles including cargo nets, climbing walls and slippery tunnels and the dentists and nurses navigated their way to the finish line to raise more than £1,500 for Cancer Research UK, a charity that means a great deal to them. Last year, the team decided to take part in the event in Exeter in support of their colleague Maureen, who had been diagnosed with cancer. Maureen sadly died earlier this year and the team wanted to do her proud.

The event, which was for ladies only, was challenging but fun. Everyone wanted to do their best for Maureen and they were spurred on by her bravery and said they knew she would be looking down on them and willing them to do well. At the end of the race, the runners made a beeline for clinical director Rhodri John and gave him a muddy cuddle.

Absolute Dental has already raised more than £1,500 for the cause and they are hoping to boost the figure in the coming weeks.
