King’s College Hospital emergency dental clinic switches to appointment-only system

The emergency dental clinic at King’s College Hospital, London, is now operating an appointment-only system.

The hospital changed its policy on Monday 12th August, and patients who wish to see a dentist are now encouraged to call on the day at 8am to make an appointment. Walk-in appointments will no longer be available, and the trust is encouraging patients to refrain from turning up at the clinic without calling ahead and pre-booking to avoid disappointment.

A spokesperson for the hospital trust said that the new system will enable patients to ascertain whether or not they can be seen on the day without making a journey and then finding out that there are no appointments left. By phoning reception in advance and booking a slot, patients can then plan their day accordingly.

If there are no appointments left when patients call, they will be advised to ring the next morning or to dial 101 to find out about alternative urgent services in their local area. For emergency appointments that require immediate attention, patients can call the clinic on 020 3299 5608.
