The prestigious King’s College Dental has once again proved itself to be the best dental college in the country. Earlier this year the highly anticipated Guardian University Guide put King’s in at number 1 for dentistry. And now the Complete University Guide 2012 has done the same.

In the Complete University Guide league tables, King’s College climbed an impressive 10 positions from its position last year of 11th to claim the 1st spot, a position that professors and staff are rightfully proud and pleased with.

While the university league tables as a whole (there is quite a large number of them) have come under some level of criticism over the last few years, whether you approve or disapprove of them it can’t be denied that every year when the time for the results comes around, academics and students alike are eager to find out where their university is ranked.

The overall league tables are judged on 7 categories: satisfaction with teaching; satisfaction with feedback; student/staff ratio; spend per student; average entry tariff; value added score out of 10; and the careers of students after 6 months. In the overall rankings King’s College still achieved an impressive 30th; a commendable rank when UCAS judges over 300 institutions classed as universities or places of higher education and learning.

Professor Nairn Wilson, the dean and head of the Dental Institute and deputy vice principal for health at King’s College has put the success down to a strong team effort focused around improving the learning experience of students, “This success is attributable to the great team effort in the Institute and is recognition of all the hard work that has gone into developing the educational processes and the student experience.”

The College has also vowed to continue improving its facilities and standards in dental teaching to maintain and further its current success.
