The Kerala Dental Association is preparing to host an event to raise the profile of the area as a destination for dental tourists.

Dr C Rajkrishnan will represent the CII Healthcare Centre at the event and has said that there has been significant growth in the dental tourism industry in the area. The number of patients travelling to Kerala for dental treatment has increased by 25%, with the majority of tourists coming from the UK. Between 250 and 300 patients visited Kerala from the UK last year for dental treatment.

Dr Rajkrishnan, CEO of Rajkrishnan’s Dental Clinic in Kochi, said that patients are starting to come for modern treatments, such as guided implant treatment, as well as traditional treatments, such as root canal treatment, which used to be the most popular treatment for foreign patients.

Dental implant treatment has become extremely popular with foreign patients because the cost is around 5-6 times lower in India than in most countries in Western Europe and Scandinavia.
