A young dentist from Kenilworth is all smiles after scooping a prestigious award. Jesal Pankhania beat off competition from a shortlist of 17 candidates to take the crown of Young Dentist of the Year at the Dentistry Awards.

Judges praised the standard of Mr Pankhania’s clinical work and were also very impressed with the 33 year old’s commitment to community work. As well as being heavily involved at his own practice, Mr Pankhania also devotes some of his free time to teaching yoga and meditation at Coventry University and hosting debating classes and discussions. He also has two children.

Mr Pankhania said that he was still in shock that he had won such a prestigious award and thanked the team around him at the Kenilworth Dental Practice and his family. Everyone cheered and clapped when his name was called out as the winner and without the support of his colleagues, the success wouldn’t have been possible.

Mr Panhkhania was nominated by his dental team and he then sent a portfolio of his work to the judging panel, along with patient testimonials and details of the work and voluntary projects he carries out in the community. After careful consideration by the expert panel, a shortlist was formed and Jesal was announced as the winner at the ceremony in Leicester.

This is not the first time the Kenilworth Dental Practice has tasted success; at last year’s ceremony, staff members were thrilled to win the Best Team award.
