Two innovative new toothbrushes have been launched by Japanese companies in recent weeks.

One of the toothbrushes claims to eliminate the need for toothpaste; the solar powered toothbrush uses electricity to break down plaque and leave the teeth looking glossy and feeling smooth. The toothbrush a titanium dioxide rod beneath the nylon brush bristles; when light shines on the rod, electrons react with acid in the mouth, breaking plaque down and removing bacteria from the mouth.

The new Shiken Soladey-J3X toothbrush will cost around 40 Euros and is available to pre-order on the company’s website. The innovative brush has already impressed industry insiders and it won first prize at last year’s FDI World Dental Conference in Dubai beating off competition from 170 other designs.

Yumeshokunin, another Japanese company, has recently launched the Misoka toothbrush, a brush that is designed for people who do not have a lot of free time. The company claim that the new brush only needs to be used once a day to produce a long-lasting deep clean. The bristles of the Misoka toothbrush have a nanomineral coating, which remove debris and plaque and also prevent plaque and detritus from sticking to the surfaces of the teeth throughout the day. The company claims that the brush will keep teeth clean for 24 hours. The brush is available to buy for around 15 dollars from the Hiroshi Beverly Hills Salon.
