Local health officials have launched an investigation into the death of a Bangkok teenager.
The schoolgirl, just 14, died just a couple of months after having fashionable braces fitted.
Siriluck Pilong, from Bang Lamung, was confirmed dead upon arrival at hospital yesterday.
Paengsri Pilong 38, said her daughter did not respond when she tried to wake in the morning. She then realised Siriluck had stopped breathing.
Initial inspections of the teenager’s body have failed to reveal any cause of this tragic death.
The Bangkok Post reported that Mrs Paengsri said that to her knowledge Siriluck did not any diseases and had not displayed any noticeable visible symptoms of illness.
The schoolgirl had had the fashionable braces fitted without her mother’s knowledge a couple of months earlier. Mrs Paengsri now believes that illegal dental procedures may have been the cause of her daughter’s death. She is calling for an extensive autopsy.
Director of the medical registration division, Tara Chinakarn, and provincial public health chief Chon Buri are now working together to solve this case.
