The makers of a revolutionary orthodontic treatment have plenty to smile about after reaching an incredible landmark. The team behind Invisalign has recently celebrated treating its 4 millionth client.

On the 7th September, Align Technology confirmed that four million patients across the world have benefited from Invisalign treatment. This clear brace system has become increasingly popular, as more and more recognise the benefit of having a straight smile without having to worry about the stigma attached to wearing visible appliances.

In celebration of the achievement, Align Technology has pledged to donate $1 to charity for every photo posted by a patient showcasing their beautiful Invisalign smiles. The money raised will be forwarded to Operation Smile with a maximum donation set at $1 million. Anyone who wants to get involved is advised to share their photos on Twitter or Facebook or post on Instagram with the hashtag #4millionsmiles.

President and CEO of Align Technology, Joe Hogan, said that everyone involved with Invisalign is very proud to reach such a momentous landmark. The team has hit the 4 million mark in half the time it took to get to 1 million, demonstrating the amazing growth of the system and the scope it offers to patients living all over the world.

Invisalign treatment is suitable for around 50 percent of orthodontic patients. It uses a series of bespoke aligners, which are manufactured using high-grade clear plastic, to realign the teeth. It is often recommended for adults who want to address issues without having to wear visible, unsightly braces.

There are now around 100,000 certified Invisalign providers in the world.
