Inmates in India receive Dental Treatments

The Indian Dental Association hosted an oral and dental health camp at Kohima District Jail on October 15th.

The IDA hosted the clinic to provide dental care for inmates at the jail. A team of eight dental surgeons and specialists, lead by the President of the IDA’s Nagaland State Branch, Dr J Imtiwabang Pongener and Secretary, Dr Niesato Mero.

The team examined the inmates and provided a range of services, including cleaning treatments, tooth extractions and restorations. Medication, toothpaste and toothbrushes were also given out to prisoners free of charge.

The dental team also gave a short presentation about oral health to encourage the inmates to take good care of their teeth and gums and learn how to prevent oral health diseases.

The oral and dental health camp was held as part of the Nagaland State Branch’s continued commitment to dental care in the community and the Community Health Programme, which will provide free dental care to inmates in prisons across the region throughout the month of October.
