Indian Dental Institute’s affiliation to be cancelled

A University based dental institute in Panjab, India is about to have its official affiliation with the Dental Council of India cancelled due to failure to meet guidelines and conditions.

Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences at Panjab University will no longer be allowed to take on new students as a consequence of the disaffiliation. The DCI has decided to cut ties with the institute after guidelines concerning faculty and facilities were not adhered to. At present the dental college has over two hundred students and director of the institute, Krishan Gauba, has rebuffed any claims concerning disaffiliation.

Guaba stated that the deadlines to fulfill the conditions were met before the July fifteenth deadline and that such information had been passed onto the DCI. When asked, Guaba said that ‘we are very hopeful of they will renew the affiliation.’

The disaffiliation will not affect the current students at the University but new students are currently not allowed o be admitted.
