A dental team from Ilford visited a local shopping centre last week to educate adults and children about oral health as part of National Smile Month.

The team of dental workers from Whitestar Dental Care visited the Exchange shopping centre to talk to local people about the importance of good oral health as part of the National Smile Month campaign, which is run by the British Dental Health Foundation.

Dentists and nurses took time to chat to shoppers and they also gave out freebies and organised fun activities for children. The aim of the road show was to educate people about oral health and encourage them to take good care of their teeth and gums in a bid to reduce the risk of gum disease and cavities. Issues highlighted by the practice team included brushing and flossing, the importance of regular check-ups and the impact of sugary foods on oral health.

The team will be hosting other events over the next couple of weeks and they will also be offering special discounts at the practice.

Dr Dhindsa, from the practice, said that the event was a great success and it was a lot of fun. Hundreds of people joined in the celebration and everyone had an enjoyable time, as well as enjoying an opportunity to learn more about oral health.

Dr Nigel Carter OBE, and chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, said that it was great news to hear that the Whitestar team was promoting and celebrating National Smile Month and added that the practice was demonstrating “community spirit.”
