Sample News Big

Dental hygienists and therapists have joined forces to launch a new group to campaign for greater involvement in the future of dental access for patients.

The Direct Access Action Group is planning to encourage other hygienists and dental therapists to support the campaign, which is focused on enabling hygienists to access patients directly.

The Office of Fair Trading is currently investigating whether private and NHS dentistry markets are serving patients effectively and this investigation includes access to dental care, including access to hygiene services. The report from the OFT is due to be released in April.

The group currently comprises of eight hygienists and they are looking for the support of other practitioners. The Direct Access Action Group has set up a website and Twitter account to enable fellow hygienists and dental therapists to keep up to date with the latest news and find out more about the campaign.
