A dental practice in Holsworthy is celebrating 40 years in business.

Last week on Friday, the team celebrated their 40th birthday with a commemorative photograph in front of the surgery. The clinic was established four decades ago by Dr John Chope, who spent time researching in the USA and teaching in Sudan before returning to England to open the practice.

Dr Chope started off with a small surgery next to the railway station and has since expanded, establishing the Holsworthy Dental Centre in 2009. The centre joined four separate surgeries together under one roof.

After 40 years in Holsworthy, Dr Chope said that he still loves his work, mainly because his interest in dentistry is maintained by constant evolution. The world of dentistry has changed a lot in the last 40 years and it is a very exciting field to be part of and Dr Chope said that he still looks forward to challenges that face him around the corner.

The practice has gone from strength to strength and is very popular with local patients. Last month, the books were closed to new patients due to high demand, but Dr Chope is hoping to recruit a new dentist in the near future to enable the surgery to take on new NHS patients.
