Henry Schein has supported students at Cardiff University Dental School, providing them with oral healthcare packs to take to Ghana as part of a global outreach programme.

The dental firm provided students with fifty oral healthcare packs, which include an assortment of supplies, to give out to some of the world’s poorest people during a two-week trip to Ghana. Twenty one students visited Ghana and during their time in the country, they treated more than 500 children and 400 adults. The trip was organised by Global Brigades.

As well as students providing basic dental treatment, lecturers and supervisors were able to spend time talking to local people about oral hygiene and how to prevent oral diseases; they also gave out toothbrushes and toothpaste to children and showed them how to use them.

Simon Gambold, managing director of Henry Schein UK, said that the company is very proud to support good causes and see what a difference donations can make to people who do not have access to even the most basic dental services.

The Ghana mission was part of Henry Schein’s global corporate citizenship scheme known as Henry Schein Cares.
