Henry Schein, one of the world’s leading health and dental suppliers, has supported a charity mission in Albania.

The company donated medical and dental supplies to support an international charity mission, which was arranged and managed by Marine Research. The mission took place between April and June 2013.

During the 3 month period, volunteers provided health and dental care to people in need and also took time to talk to healthcare staff and patients about oral hygiene, preventative health and dental care. They also discussed the importance of a good diet and proper nutrition.

In total, more than 240 children, including many orphans, received treatment. Volunteers extracted around 270 teeth and placed more than 260 fillings. The volunteer team also provided more than 100 pairs of reading glasses and carried out more than 70 ophthalmic procedures.

Simon Gambold, managing director of Henry Schein’s UK dental and medical business, said that the firm is able to help volunteer projects, which are helping vulnerable and poor people all over the world. He added that the company is proud to support projects, such as the Marine Research mission in Albania.

Last month, the firm supported the London MoonWalk, which raised funds for breast cancer research.
