Health Bosses In Lancashire Urge Public To Plan For Easter Weekend

Sample News Big

Health bosses have urged members of the public to plan ahead with the Easter weekend fast approaching. Bosses are encouraging people to check opening times for GP surgeries and dental practices and to check their prescriptions ahead of the bank holiday weekend.

GP surgeries and dental clinics will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, in addition to Saturday 29th March. Patients are encouraged to schedule appointments before the weekend if required.

Health bosses have urged people to visit pharmacies for advice about minor illnesses over the weekend, rather than going to hospitals which are likely to be busy. Pharmacists can offer advice on a range of ailments including colds, coughs and flu, while high street pharmacies will provide appointments without prior arrangement.

Patients who need urgent but not emergency medical care are advised to call NHS 111. You can find out about emergency dental services by calling your regular practice or using the NHS Choices website.

Details of which pharmacies will be open on the bank holiday weekend can be found by contacting East Lancashire health board, in the local press and online at www.east lancsccg.nhs.uk or www.bwd.nhs.uk/public-health/bank-holiday-information/.
