Has a replacement surgery been lined up for mydentist’s Tewkesbury practice?

Sample News Big

Mydentist’s Tewkesbury practice is due to close today (Friday 31st March), but local residents are hopeful that a replacement has been found.

The clinic, which is located in the Bishop’s Walk shopping centre, will close after mydentist executives stated that it wasn’t profitable to keep it open. The move will leave around 7,000 patients without an NHS dental practice. However, there are hopes that Oasis Dental Care will be taking over the site, although this has not yet been confirmed by the chain.

After the announcement came from mydentist, the NHS set about trying to find alternative companies to take on the contract, and Oasis Dental has confirmed that it is interested in assuming the responsibility. A spokeswoman for the chain, which has offices all over the country, said that discussions are ongoing, and at this moment, specifics of any agreements cannot be disclosed.

News of a new dental surgery will be gratefully received by those who are currently registered with the mydentist clinic. At the time, bosses encouraged registered patients to visit mydentist practices in Cheltenham or Gloucester, but travelling isn’t easy for everyone, and most would prefer to have a dentist in the town. Mydentist blamed a lack of NHS work for its decision.

Anyone who is unsure about seeing a dentist after the closure is advised to visit the NHS Choices website to find out about local NHS dental services.
