A dental team from Hailsham has plenty to smile about after smashing its fundraising target for the annual Christmas raffle.

The raffle has become a festive tradition at Bupa Dental Care on Hailsham High Street, and this year, the team raised even more money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice than they did in 2018. St Wilfrid’s is a local hospice that provides crucial support and care for patients with terminal illnesses and their relatives.

This year’s Christmas draw was conducted by the Mayor of Hailsham, Paul Holbrook, on Monday 16th December. Staff had been collecting prizes and selling tickets for weeks before the event, and they managed to raise a staggering total of £900. This is almost double the amount raised last year, and it will make a real difference to the hospice. St Wilfrid’s is independently run, and it is heavily reliant on donations.

Katie Bourne, the practice manager, thanked all the patients for getting behind the project and raising huge amounts of money by generously buying tickets and donating prizes. The success of the raffle shows what a great community Hailsham is and how important charities and organisations like St Wilfrid’s are to local people.

All of the proceeds will now be passed on to the hospice and the team will be hoping to raise even more money in 2020.
