Gillingham Dental Hygienist Set For Moroccan Mission

Sample News Big

A dental hygienist is preparing for a charity trip to Morocco where she will volunteer as part of a project run by Dentaid.

Wendy Hester, from Mere Dental Practice and Winning Smiles, will provide much-needed hygiene treatments and basic dental care to children, many of whom have extremely poor oral health. The people who will be treated by the team have a diet, which is rich in sugar and oral hygiene is very poor, so dental problems are commonplace.

She has recently trained as a dental therapist and has 20 years of experience as a dental hygienist and is confident that her skills will make a difference. She has never done anything like this before, but is looking forward to the challenges the trip will present and is pleased to be able to use her training and experience to help others.

Wendy is now fundraising for the trip and is aiming to raise £1,300, which will cover the cost of her flights and the equipment needed for the mobile clinic, which the team of ten will be manning for one week. She is planning a charity raffle and has already received generous donations from colleagues and patients.
