Giannobile gets top job at dental journal

Dr William V Giannobile has been named as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Dental Research.

The dentist, who is a professor and director at the University of Michigan, will his take-up his role at the journal (JDR) in April 2010.

Succeeding Tony Smith, who has been JDR Editor-in-Chief for the last five years, Dr Giannobile was appointed after an extensive international search.

A professor of biomedical engineering, Dr Giannobile was a member of Harvard’s faculty and at Boston’s Forsyth Institute.

Having completing a sabbatical year at the University of Genova and at the University of Milan, in Italy, in 2006, Dr Giannobile will now be responsible for reviewing and accepting manuscripts, publishing and working closely with the International Association of Dental Research (IADR).

As Editor-in-Chief he will be made member of the IADR’s Board of Directors.
