Genix Healthcare Welcomes NHS Dentistry Funding Boost

Sian Nelson-Jones, clinical director of Genix Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest dental providers, has welcomed news of a cash injection for NHS dentistry.

Last week, the Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, announced an additional sum of £28 million for NHS dental services. Primary Care Trusts will now be invited to bid for extra funding to provide better access to NHS dental care in their areas.

Sian Nelson-Jones said that the extra funding is “excellent news” for patients who have been struggling to see an NHS dentist. Genix Healthcare runs practices across the UK and works with the NHS to provide routine dental services for thousands of patients.

Ms Nelson-Jones said that the company is currently working to expand existing clinics in Gloucestershire and many have extended their opening hours to accommodate more patients and offer greater flexibility for patients who work full-time.

Successful Primary Care Trusts will be given funding to improve services in their region, which may include building new practices, extending opening hours and improving care in the community.
