Yesterday morning emergency services were called to a Cheshire dental practice following a gas explosion.

The explosion took place at around 7.30am yesterday at the surgery on Middlewich Road in Northwich. Fire fighters from Winsford, Northwich and Middlewich were called to the scene and homes either side of the building were evacuated. Nearby Rudheath High School was closed for the day and roads around the dental practice were also sealed off by police.

According to a spokesperson from the Fire Service, nobody was harmed by the blast but people were advised to stay away from the site. The spokesperson also added that the gas supply had been isolated and investigations were underway to determine the cause of the explosion and examine the extent of structural damage.

Cheshire police have now reopened the roads surrounding the surgery and it has been confirmed that there were no casualties. The practice has suffered extensive damage is still being inspected by building surveyors and engineers.
