Free oral cancer screenings in Santa Clarita

Sample News Big

A dental practice is offering free oral cancer screenings for patients throughout April to celebrate national Oral Cancer Awareness Month.

A Unique Dental Experience on Lyons Avenue will offer screenings to raise awareness of oral cancer and encourage people to have a test; in many cases, people are unaware of the symptoms and signs of oral cancer and they do not see their dentist or doctor until the disease is at an advanced stage. Early detection and treatment can increase survival rates by up to 90 percent.

Oral cancer is becoming increasingly common; around 37,000 people are diagnosed with oral cancer in the USA every year, yet many people know very little about the disease and do not know which symptoms to look out for.

As part of national Oral Cancer Awareness Month, dentists across America are offering screening clinics and providing information about oral cancer to encourage patients to keep an eye on their mouth and look out for early warning signs of the disease; these include red or white patches in the mouth, abnormal swellings or lumps in the mouth or throat, slow-healing sores and persistent hoarseness.
